The Legume Generation Innovation Communities are supported through the organisation of different training sessions and are invited to the first Legume Generation webinar, which will deal with practicalities of seed exchange in regard to legal aspects of the Multilateral System, Easy-STMA and GLIS/DOIs. We are happy to announce that we were able to invite two designated experts on these topics, from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO):

They reviewed the legal aspects of the International Treaty of Plant Genetic Resources, and addressed questions such as
i) How can plant genetic resources be exchanged in the context of the treatment?
ii) What is the standard material transfer agreement and East SMTA?
iii) What is the Global Information System? What are the available online resources?
iv) What are the Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) for plant genetic resources? How can a DOI be assigned to plant genetic resources? And for what?
In summary, many issues that can help partners to improve the exchange of genetic resources.
