SONIA-ProQ: Real-Time Soya Processing Analysis
19.11.2025
This video was recorded as part of the Sonia ProQ project at the premises of project partner MH Agrarhandel GmbH in Haselbach (Styria). It shows a conveyor belt unit developed in the FFG project SONIA-ProQ and integrated into the project partner's plant for process spectroscopy in soybean processing. The prototype was developed by i-RED in close cooperation with Josephinum Research. The measuring system uses near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for real-time analysis of soybeans (mainly raw beans, but roasted beans can also be examined). The aim is prospective process control: the data measured on the raw beans is used to optimally control the roasting process. The project is investigating whether and with what accuracy the following parameters can be determined spectroscopically: water content or dry matter, trypsin inhibitor activity, protein content, protein solubility and oil content.
