Terms, conditions, and data privacy plan
Introduction
The Legume Hub (“the Hub”) provides free public access to knowledge used in the production and use of legumes in agriculture and food. In particular, it supports agronomic practices by sharing knowledge. The Hub is a free public service available to everyone. The management of the Hub is guided and supervised by a community of its users: the European Legume Hub Association (also referred to as ‘Community’) of which all registered users and contributors are members.
For the purpose of these terms, conditions and data privacy plan, the following definitions apply:
The Hub: The Legume Hub at www.legumehub.eu is an interactive website that provides access to a wide range of legume-related knowledge resources and provides a peer-reviewed self-publishing for Members of the European Legume Hub Community.
User: someone who accesses or uses the Hub.
Registered User: an individual who provides personal information to receive enhanced services.
Member: All Registered Users are members of the European Legume Hub Association.
Community: the members of the European Legume Hub Association comprising all registered Users (Members).
Contributor: any Member who deposits content for distribution through the Hub.
Author: a Contributor who is the original source of the deposited content and/or who owns the copyright on the content.
Administrator: the organisation that manages the Hub. Donau Soja GmbH currently fills this role.
The Hub seeks to maximise recognition for its Authors, their projects, and their organisations. Content (articles, videos and images) published originally on the Hub remains the property of its Author(s). All Hub-published articles, i.e., text-based content originally published on the Hub, are presented to Users with a clear guidance on citation recognising the authors and their funders where relevant. Authors are also profiled on the Hub to foster transparency, networking and further knowledge exchange. Content uploaded onto the Hub that is already published elsewhere remains the property of its copyright holder, usually the author(s). In addition to using the Hub for publication and dissemination, all Registered Users (Members) may contribute to the development of the Hub, the further exchange of knowledge, and a wide range of Community activities.
The concept for the Legume Hub was first set out in the project proposal that led to the Legumes Translated project. Legumes Translated was funded by the European Union through Horizon 2020, Project Grant Number 817634. The concept for the Hub and the Community (Association) was developed jointly by the members of the Legumes Translated consortium led in particular by Donal Murphy-Bokern (Germany), Christine Watson (SRUC, UK), Leo Rittler and Georg Spreitzer (Donau Soja, Austria), Helga Willer and Lauren Dietmann (FiBL, Switzerland), Jens Dauber (Thuenen Institut, Germany), and Johannes Schuler (ZALF, Germany). These members of the Legumes Translated Executive Committee are the original owners of the intellectual property and copyright in the Hub concept.
Disclaimer: The information provided on the Hub has been thoroughly researched and is believed to be accurate and correct. However, neither the Contributors, Authors, the Hub Administrator (Donau Soja GmbH), nor the European Commission can be held legally responsible for any errors. There are no warranties, expressed or implied, made with respect to the information provided. Information relating to the use of plant protection products (pesticides) must be checked against the product label or other sources of product registration information.
Data protection policy
This policy sets out the Hub’s data collection and use practices. The data concerned comprise personal data (name, email address, phone number, postal address) as well as further data deposited by users of the Legume Hub (content, articles, videos, pictures and associated metadata). The following data and/or information related to Members (registered Users) and Authors are processed to provide the Hub’s services:
Registered user account: All registered Users are Members of the Legume Hub Association. During the registration process, Users are asked for their first and last name, their email address, and some other basic contact information such as an institutional affiliation and country of residence, and a password. After a potential member has clicked on the emailed confirmation link, the member account is confirmed. Membership at this stage is provisional and converts to full membership after one month. The Registered User has the option of allowing these registration data to be made available to other members on the Hub. As the Legume Hub is a community for knowledge exchange, we reserve the right to process and exchange data provided by Members to support exchange and networking within the Legume Hub Community.
Registered Users who wish to contribute content or publish as Authors are requested to provide a personal profile with the option of having this published on the Hub visible to all Users.
Deposit agreement, intellectual property, and copyright: Contributors retain ownership and copyright for their articles, images, videos or supplementary materials submitted to the Legume Hub. Contributors and Authors also retain the right to remove content from the Legume Hub that they deposited. For each contribution, Contributors must confirm that they have sufficient rights to deposit particular content to the Legume Hub before doing so. In depositing content (text, images, videos, tables, graphs and associated metadata, and uploaded articles already published elsewhere) the Member grants the Legume Hub the right to make it available online, with open access for all. The Contributor/Author confirms that he or she understands that the European Legume Hub Association or its representatives do not assume any responsibility for any breach of copyright in distributing this content through the Hub on behalf of the Contributor.
For work published originally by an Author as an article in Legume Hub, the Author declares that he/she has the right to publish this content making it freely available on the Legume Hub.
For work being deposited by a Contributor that is not authored by the Contributor, the Contributor declares that he/she has the proper permission from the copyright owner, usually indicated on the work, to make this work available in the public domain through the Legume Hub.
Communication via the Legume Hub: Communications which are initiated via the Legume Hub (e.g., comments on articles) list the Member’s name and/or contact details. When Members communicate with the Administrator of the Legume Hub, they may provide name, contact details and other personal data as part of the communication in addition to the content of the message itself. The Administrator of the Legume Hub may process a Member’s personal information in order to reply or to initiate further communication.
Recommendations and statistics: Contact and bibliographical data, information pertaining to a Member’s work, usage frequency, type of devices used to access the Legume Hub, including browser, operating system and mobile device, consulted research items, interaction with particular pages or parts of pages, and number of clicks on a page or feature are collected for the purpose of managing the Hub’s services. Further, based on the personal data a member provides, statistical evaluations, mathematic operations, and predictions may help to infer other information about a member and support Hub services.
Guided by the board and Members of the Association, the Administrator reserves the right to modify this policy at any time to reflect changes in Hub processes, technology or system capabilities, and changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements. All changes to the content of this policy will be notified to the Members by email. If a User objects to any new version, he/she should close his/her account. If the User continues to use the Hub after having been provided with such notice he/she will be deemed to have acknowledged the policy. Personal data are collected based on legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) to (f) GDPR.
